Asbestos Awareness for Workers
Lección 1

Awareness for workers who may come across asbestos but do not remove it: know which materials to presume contain asbestos, read the signs and labels, do not disturb it, clean up and report the right way, and know your training rights.

What this certificate covers

This certificate records completion of asbestos awareness training based on OSHA 29 CFR 1926.1101 (construction) and 29 CFR 1910.1001 (general industry). It is not an OSHA card or license, it does not qualify you for Class I, II, III or IV asbestos work, and it does not by itself meet the training requirements of 29 CFR 1926.1101(k)(9), including the Class IV awareness course in 1926.1101(k)(9)(vi), or 29 CFR 1910.1001(j)(7), including the housekeeping awareness course in 1910.1001(j)(7)(iv). Your employer must still train, at no cost to the employee, each employee who performs Class I through IV asbestos operations or is likely to be exposed in excess of a PEL, before or at initial assignment and at least annually, with Class IV training consistent with 40 CFR 763.92(a)(1) that takes at least 2 hours; and, in general industry, train each employee exposed at or above the PEL and/or excursion limit and provide, at no cost, an asbestos awareness course to employees who perform housekeeping in areas with ACM or PACM, covering health effects of asbestos, locations of ACM and PACM in the building/facility, recognition of ACM and PACM damage and deterioration, the standard's housekeeping requirements, and proper response to fiber release episodes, at least once a year.
