Personal Protective Equipment Basics for Workers Who Wear PPE
For general industry workers who are required to wear PPE: know when PPE is needed, match eye, face, head, foot and hand protection to the hazard, keep it in usable condition, and know who pays for it.
This certificate records completion of awareness training based on OSHA 29 CFR 1910.132, 1910.133, 1910.135, 1910.136 and 1910.138. It is not an OSHA card or license, and it does not by itself meet the training requirements of 29 CFR 1910.132(f). Your employer must still train you on when PPE is necessary, what PPE is necessary, how to properly don, doff, adjust and wear it, its limitations, and its proper care, maintenance, useful life and disposal; you must demonstrate an understanding of that training and the ability to use PPE properly before being allowed to perform work requiring PPE; and your employer must retrain you when required.
