Forklift Operator Safety: Classroom Training
Lección 1

The classroom portion of forklift operator training: how operator training and evaluation work, checking the truck, handling loads, traveling around people, parking and docks, and fueling and charging.

What this certificate covers

This certificate records completion of awareness training (classroom portion) based on OSHA 29 CFR 1910.178. It is not an OSHA card or license, and it does not by itself qualify anyone to operate a powered industrial truck. Your employer must provide practical training, evaluate your performance in the workplace, certify your training and evaluation, and provide any required site-specific training and evaluation.

What you will learn

  • Explain how your training, evaluation and certification work, and when you get refresher training
  • Decide whether a truck is safe to use, and what to do when it is not
  • Handle loads within capacity and keep them stable
  • Travel safely around people, aisles, grades and tracks
  • Park and work at docks the right way
  • Refuel and charge without starting a fire

What you get

  • About 30 minutes, on your phone or computer, read out loud as you go
  • Real photos, not cartoons
  • A hands-on drill: you make the calls, step by step, and see what happens
  • 6 quick checks along the way, then a final quiz
  • A certificate with a QR code your employer can check online
  • A wallet card you can print and carry
  • A printable study guide (PDF)
