For shipyard employees who enter tanks, holds, voids and other confined or enclosed spaces: testing order (oxygen, flammability, toxicity), limits and warning labels, entrant training, rescue teams, cleaning and cold work, hot work certificates, and maintaining safe conditions.
What this certificate covers
This certificate records completion of awareness training based on OSHA 29 CFR 1915.11 through 1915.16. It is not an OSHA card or license, it does not make anyone a shipyard competent person, Marine Chemist or Coast Guard authorized person, and it does not by itself meet the training requirements of 29 CFR 1915.12(d). Your employer must still ensure that each employee who enters a confined or enclosed space or other area with a dangerous atmosphere is trained to perform all required duties safely, including the topics in 1915.12(d)(2) and when to exit under 1915.12(d)(3); provide that training before the entrant begins the work and whenever a change in operations or in the employee's duties presents a hazard the employee has not previously been trained on; and certify the training with the employee's name, the name of the certifier, and the date(s) of the certification.
