1910.263(e)(1): Horizontal Dough Mixer Safeguards

By Black Belt Safety Editorial Team Official text as of octubre 15, 2026 Data updated noviembre 5, 2026 4 min read

In plain words:

Bakery employers must enclose belts, gears and other moving parts on horizontal dough mixers, give each mixer its own motor, control and a manual switch to prevent startup during service and cleaning, and place controls in full view of the bowl. Power-dumping mixers need two-hand safety devices when the bowl is more than one-fifth open, the bowl must be fully enclosed while the agitator moves, and overhead covers must stay open until released.
