1910.30(a)(1): Fall Protection Training Before Exposure

By Black Belt Safety Editorial Team Official text as of October 15, 2026 Data updated October 20, 2026 3 min read

In plain words:

Before any worker is exposed to a fall hazard, the employer must train each employee who uses personal fall protection systems or who must be trained under other parts of the walking-working surfaces rules. Employers had to have these workers trained by May 17, 2017. Training must come before the hazard, not after someone gets hurt.
