By Black Belt Safety Editorial Team Official text as of October 15, 2026 Data updated October 20, 2026 7 min read

In plain words:

Construction employers must train, at no cost, each employee likely to be exposed above a PEL and each employee doing Class I through IV asbestos work, before or at initial assignment and at least annually after. Class I training, and Class II work using critical barriers or negative pressure enclosures, must equal the EPA Model Accreditation Plan worker course. Class II work with roofing, flooring, siding, ceiling tiles or transite panels needs hands-on training of at least 8 hours.
