Commercial Diving in Construction: Dive Team and Dive Procedures
For dive team members on construction projects: scope, dive team qualifications and the person-in-charge, the safe practices manual, pre-dive planning and briefing, procedures during the dive (communications, tools, welding, explosives, terminating a dive) and post-dive precautions, recompression and records.
This certificate records completion of awareness training based on OSHA 29 CFR 1926.1071, 1926.1076 and 1926.1080 through 1926.1083, which are identical to 29 CFR 1910.401, 1910.410 and 1910.420 through 1910.423. It is not an OSHA card or license and it is not a diver certification. It does not qualify anyone to dive or to act as designated person-in-charge, and it does not by itself meet the training requirements of 29 CFR 1910.410(a) (29 CFR 1926.1076). Your employer must still ensure that each dive team member has the experience or training necessary to perform assigned tasks in a safe and healthful manner, including experience or training in the use of tools, equipment and systems relevant to assigned tasks, techniques of the assigned diving mode, and diving operations and emergency procedures; that all dive team members are trained in cardiopulmonary resuscitation and first aid (American Red Cross standard course or equivalent); and that dive team members who are exposed to or control the exposure of others to hyperbaric conditions are trained in diving-related physics and physiology. The employer must also develop and maintain a safe practices manual and make it available at the dive location to each dive team member.
