Nail Gun and Powder-Actuated Tool Safety
Lección 1

For framers, carpenters and other construction workers: what OSHA requires for pneumatic nailers, air hoses and powder-actuated tools, plus the habits that keep nails and pins out of people.

What this certificate covers

This certificate records completion of awareness training based on OSHA 29 CFR 1926.300(a) and (c) and 29 CFR 1926.302(b) and (e). It is not an OSHA card or license, and it does not by itself meet the training requirements of 29 CFR 1926.302(e)(1). Your employer must still allow only employees who have been trained in the operation of the particular tool in use to operate a powder-actuated tool.

What you will learn

  • Check that your tool and its air hose meet the basic OSHA requirements before you use them
  • Recognize the muzzle safety device required on high-pressure nailers and staplers
  • Use compressed air without creating a new hazard
  • Follow the OSHA rules for powder-actuated tools: who may use them, daily testing, loading, and where not to fire

What you get

  • About 15 minutes, on your phone or computer, read out loud as you go
  • Real photos, not cartoons
  • A hands-on drill: you make the calls, step by step, and see what happens
  • 3 quick checks along the way, then a final quiz
  • A certificate with a QR code your employer can check online
  • A wallet card you can print and carry
  • A printable study guide (PDF)
