Construction Safety Program Basics for Supervisors
1 Lesson

Learn the employer duties in 29 CFR 1926.20 that you carry out as a construction supervisor: programs, inspections, non-compliant equipment, who may operate equipment, and which rule applies.

What this certificate covers

This certificate records completion of awareness training based on OSHA 29 CFR 1926.20(b), (d)(1) and (f). It is not an OSHA card or license. Section 1926.20 has no training requirement of its own, so this course does not replace any training your employer owes you under other standards in 29 CFR Part 1926. Your employer must still initiate and maintain the programs necessary to comply with Part 1926, and must permit only employees qualified by training or experience to operate equipment and machinery. Where a standard in Part 1926 requires training, your employer must train each affected employee in the manner required by that standard.

What you will learn

  • Say who is responsible for safety and health programs on a construction job
  • Explain what the rule says about inspections of job sites, materials and equipment
  • Handle a machine, tool, material or equipment that is not in compliance
  • Decide who may operate equipment and machinery
  • Tell which standard applies when a specific rule and a general rule both seem to fit

What you get

  • About 12 minutes, on your phone or computer, read out loud as you go
  • Real photos, not cartoons
  • A hands-on drill: you make the calls, step by step, and see what happens
  • 5 quick checks along the way, then a final quiz
  • A certificate with a QR code your employer can check online
  • A wallet card you can print and carry
