Formaldehyde Awareness
For workers exposed to formaldehyde gas, solutions or formaldehyde-releasing materials: know the limits and your results, respect regulated areas, use the right protective equipment and emergency washing, handle leaks and spills, and use the medical surveillance you are entitled to.
This certificate records completion of awareness training based on OSHA 29 CFR 1910.1048. It is not an OSHA card or license, and it does not by itself meet the training requirements of 29 CFR 1910.1048(n). Your employer must still assure that each employee assigned to a workplace where there is exposure to formaldehyde participates in a training program, at the time of initial assignment, whenever a new exposure to formaldehyde is introduced into the work area, and at least annually, conducted in a manner the employee is able to understand and covering the items in 1910.1048(n)(3), including a description of operations in the work area where formaldehyde is present and the safe work practices appropriate for limiting exposure in each job, instructions for handling spills, emergencies and clean-up, and a review of emergency procedures including the specific duties or assignments of each employee. The one exception: the employer is not required to provide training where it can show, using objective data, that employees are not exposed to formaldehyde at or above 0.1 ppm.
