Cotton Dust Safety
Learn what the cotton dust rule means for you as a textile mill worker: your dust limit, how dust is measured, the cleaning practices that keep it down, respirators, medical exams and training.
This certificate records completion of awareness training based on OSHA 29 CFR 1910.1043 paragraphs (a)(1), (a)(2) and (a)(6); (b) (definitions); (c)(1) and (c)(2); (d)(1)(i), (d)(2), (d)(3) and (d)(4); (e)(1) and (e)(2); (f)(1), (f)(2) and (f)(3); (g); (h)(1), (h)(2), (h)(3) and (h)(5); (i)(1) and (i)(2)(i); (j)(1); and (l)(1). It is not an OSHA card or license, and it does not by itself meet the training requirements of 29 CFR 1910.1043(i). Your employer must still train you: the employer must train each employee exposed to cotton dust in accordance with the requirements of that section, institute a training program and ensure employee participation in the program. That training must be provided prior to initial assignment and repeated annually, when job assignments or work processes change and when employee performance indicates a need for retraining.
