Ethylene Oxide (EtO) Safety
For employees who work with ethylene oxide sterilizers, gas cylinders or EtO processes: hazards, the PEL, excursion limit and action level, monitoring, regulated areas and signs, controls, respirators (no half masks), protective clothing, emergencies, medical surveillance and training.
This certificate records completion of awareness training based on OSHA 29 CFR 1910.1047. It is not an OSHA card or license, and it does not by itself meet the training requirements of 29 CFR 1910.1047(j)(3). Your employer must still provide employees who are potentially exposed to EtO at or above the action level or above the excursion limit with information and training on EtO at the time of initial assignment and at least annually thereafter, including the operations in their work area where EtO is present, the location and availability of the written EtO final rule, the medical surveillance program, and the specific procedures the employer has implemented to protect employees from exposure to EtO, such as work practices, emergency procedures, and personal protective equipment to be used.
